On July 2, 2005 a series of global music and concert events were held in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, Russian Federation, and South Africa. These "Live 8" concerts were designed to pressure the members of the G8 to consider and place on the forefront of their meetings the situation in Africa. A final Live 8 concert was held on July 6, 2005 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
